Meet Lowelder’s Got Talent’s new ambassador

Introducing a Lowvelder’s Got Talent ambassador, Thembelihle Jele.
This 17-year-old head girl of Lowveld High is a true teen role model, and shares some of her successes and advice to other aspiring teens. Her captivating, bubbly personality and natural wisdom keeps you hanging onto every word.

Thembelihle starts her story by saying she was once very insecure about her body. From a young age, she was the tallest girl in her class, and this truly impacted her self-confidence in a negative way. In a desperate attempt to gain confidence, it was a family decision to enrol Thembelihle into modelling classes. It was through modelling that she learnt to embrace her strengths and was taught how to use them to her advantage and stand out from the crowd.
Thembelihle said through her modelling, she found a sense of belonging.

Modelling taught her to embrace her height advantage and boosted her confidence. “I am now able to accept my height and I now realise I am perfect just the way I am,” she said.
Thembelihle also recently took part in the Miss Teen International South Africa 2023 competition held in Durban earlier this year, and took the crown, outshining 37 other contestants.
Modelling is like any other sport, she said. With the correct coaching and lots of practice, you grow and your chances of success increase.
Thembelihle’s advice to other teens is to believe in their dreams and to never limit themselves due to circumstances. “Success is not bought, but worked hard for. No matter where you come from, your dreams are valid. Believe in them so you can achieve them. There will be tribulations and stumbles along the way, but it’s important to keep your head up and focus on your goals.”
