WATCH: Local captures wholesome moment between Laerskool Laeveld learners

A Laerskool Laeveld learner was recently captured on video supporting his friend who appeared to have been overwhelmed with nerves while delivering his English oral.

In what has been deemed an inspiring moment between two Laerskool Laeveld learners, Harshil Mitha, a local, captured a Grade Six boy helping his friend through some class oral jitters on Wednesday March 8.

Mitha, of TwoRedPens Marketing Agency, visited Laerskool Laeveld to capture footage for a marketing video for the school, when he caught the wholesome moment on camera.

He said the Grade Sixes were busy with their English prepared orals, when one of the learners’ nerves got the better of him during his English oral.

In the footage, you can see the boy pause during his oral, laughing nervously before patting his chest several times, and rubbing his hand over his head.

Then the young boy’s friend appears next to him, placing a hand on his shoulder. And with his friend by his side, the learner’s confidence was reignited, and he proceeded with his oral, undaunted.

“We at TwoRedPens assist Laerskool Laeveld with their marketing, and one of our projects is to create a promotion video for the school. This is a year-long assignment as we need to capture various elements such as sport, culture and so on,” said Mitha.

“I was filming some of the learners busy with their orals. This child went up and I could see he was overwhelmed and stressed. I carried on rolling the footage, and there was this moment in which another child stepped up to the plate and supported him.

“It was amazing to see the support someone can give another person in a tough situation. It is something we don’t see very often, and as a South African, it was really inspiring to see this happen in this young generation. It creates hope and gives one faith for a better future,” he said.

Mitha posted the video on his Facebook page, and it has since been shared over 100 times.

It was also shared by Laerskool Laerveld’s Facebook page along with the following text: “Kindness is giving hope to those who think they are all alone in this world. Kindness is seeing the best in others when they cannot see it in themselves. Kindness is something anyone can give without losing anything themselves. Kindness is not what you do, but who you are.”
