The police spotted a suspicious vehicle on the morning of December 19 while patrolling the R70 near Malalane.

Malalane police are thought to have prevented a possible robbery in the area, following a shoot-out with heavily armed suspects along the R70 yesterday, December 19.

According to a statement by a provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, said the Malalane police were busy patrolling the R70, Jeppe’s Reef Road when they came across a white Toyota single cab occupied by four heavily armed individuals inside.

“As the members approached the suspicious vehicle and made a U-turn, it is thought that the suspects noticed them and also made a U-turn,” said Mohlala.
