The home team had a weak start and conceded early in the 20th minute from Ambrosini Salvador’s goal, but they fought their way back from a goal down to force a stalemate.
Eight minutes after conceding the goal, they were granted a penalty after brilliant winger Kgaogelo Sekgotha was fouled in the box. Zakhele Lepasa converted the penalty with ease to beat former Cape Town City goalie Hugo Marques.

Hugo Broos’s team had better chances to score goals and produced many opportunities to do so, but they were unable to convert them into goals.
The Angolans had great ball movement, a nice attacking rhythm, and opportunities to get past the Bafana Bafana defence. Through their counterattacks, they had numerous one-on-one opportunities, but on multiple occasions they were unable to beat the captain Ronwen Williams, who repeatedly displayed why he is South Africa’s top goalkeeper.

The Angolan head coach, Pedro Concalves, said they had analysed Bafana Bafana’s previous match and used that intelligence to their advantage.
“During their game against Mozambique, we took note of their strengths and weaknesses. We used that information to devise ways to dissect and take advantage of them,” he said.

Players like Bathusi Aubaas, Njabulo Blom, Veli Mothwa and Melusi Buthelezi were not given playing time despite Broos’S changes to his starting line-up.
