This initiative is a wonderful campaign that brings people together through the joy of giving and sharing with those who are not fortunate enough to celebrate Christmas.

Sesi lomkhulu means “big sister”. The foundation was founded by Anthea Samuels-Ngubane who saw the challenges that underprivileged girls face daily and wanted to bring hope and change to their lives. The SLF assists teenage girls with toiletries, stationery, school uniforms, mentorship and university entrance requirements. The foundation offers guidance to young girls from challenging backgrounds and communities.

“Our vision is to kindle the full potential in our girls by providing them with a platform to seize opportunities, and in turn, to become big sisters in their own communities,” said Samuels-Ngabane.

“Initiatives like the one with The Grove SUPERSPAR go a long way towards helping us achieve our purpose and we are deeply appreciative of the help we receive from the public.

“The Sesi Lomkulu Foundation team meets every second week, mostly on Friday afternoons. The juniors meet at 14:00 and the seniors at 15:30. In addition to the scheduled meetings, we also conduct workshops and have holiday programmes and guest speakers,” she said.
