Fire wreaks havoc at Farmyard at Casterbridge

A fire at the Farmyard at Casterbridge had the White River community and others coming together last night, September 25, to save what they could.

The management of the Farmyard at Casterbridge Lifestyle Centre said they were devastated following a fire on the premises on Sunday evening (September 25).

Emer-G-Med, one of the emergency services that attended to the scene, said the fire started at about 21:45.

On its Facebook page, the Farmyard said the main building had been destroyed.

“Most of the animals are safe. Unfortunately, some of the animals in the building have succumbed,” it said.

In this time of need, many people came to the Farmyard’s aid. “A heartfelt gratitude to everyone who responded to our call for help and assisted us during this tragedy.”
