Pediatric Care Africa facilitates surgery for little Pretoria girl in Mbombela

The girl travelled all the way from Pretoria to Busamed Lowveld Private Hospital for the surgery.

Pediatric Care Africa (PCA) recently facilitated a surgery for a five-year-old girl at Busamed Lowveld Private Hospital after she had waited six months for the operation.

The little girl travelled all the way from Pretoria to the Lowveld with her mother for the surgery, which was completed on August 25.

“Having suffered for a number of years with her tonsils and throat infections, we arranged for her to undergo a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy simultaneously to relieve her suffering,” said Dr André Hatting, founder and head of PCA.

“Our little girl was very brave and smiled from ear to ear when Joyce Crompvoets [PCA’s treasurer] and Solani Ntshuntshe of Busamed handed her a beautiful porcelain doll to cheer her up a little.”

Hattingh said the doll was donated to PCA by Tania Neto, to give it to the little girl.

“She named her new doll ‘Lilly,'” he said.

Hattingh said Busamed’s general manager, Soekie Dierks, arranged everything for PCA and ensured that it all went very smoothly.

“Dr Gustav Smook, a well-known ENT at Busamed, did the surgery on our little patient.

“Dr Smook and Busamed have assisted PCA on so many occasions with patients. We really don’t have the words to thank them for all their kindness and assistance towards us and the children we bring to them,” he said.
