Golf day to be held to open new Tamar House

City Changers Social Services (CCSS) is planning on opening a new Tamar House to accommodate women and children who need restorative processes.

Tamar Restoration Centre is one that helps women and children who come from backgrounds of abuse, neglect and trauma, with therapy, food, clothing and strategic processes to get back into society in a healthy way.

CCSS had to close the take-in centre in 2021 due to financial restraints, but it is planning on opening a brand-new house to serve the community.

Pr Leanie Erasmus, the chairperson of CCSS, said the community has a dire need for such a house, as they receive weekly or even daily enquiries for women and children to be placed in a house like the one CCSS used to run.

“We are still helping as much as possible with therapeutic sessions and placing women and children in shelters that we know of, but the need is becoming too great, and we ask the community to again join hands with us in an effort to help our women and children,” said Erasmus.

CCSS has a golf day at the Mbombela Golf Club on August 18, which it is inviting businesses to join. “We still have fourballs available at R2 000 and tees available at the same price. There will also be plenty of wonderful prizes to be won and items to be auctioned on the day.
