Response teams recover stolen courier parcels in Masoyi within hours

A courier vehicle had been hijacked in the Masoyi area on the morning of June 21.

Thousands of rands’ worth of couriered goods were recovered and two men were arrested within hours of a courier vehicle being hijacked in the area on Tuesday June 21.

The Masoyi police and AG Solutions, with the assistance of iSecure, had been alerted to a courier vehicle transporting electronic goods that had been hijacked by four men on that morning in the Masoyi area.

During a search of the area, they came across a bakkie with all the stolen goods on the back.  AG Solutions’ Callen Herbst said they followed the bakkie and a shoot-out ensued. The suspects abandoned the vehicle and made a run for it, however, iSecure soon caught up with one of them and arrested him. Shortly after, AG Solutions, with the help of the community, managed to arrest a second suspect.

They were taken into the custody by the Masoyi police, while the goods were returned to the courier company. The suspects’ bakkie was impounded by the police.  A case has been opened and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
