Minister Cele insists on arrest in Hillary Gardee murder case

The minister of police, Bheki Cele, sent his condolences to the Gardee family at their Mbombela home this afternoon, May 3.

The national police minister, Bheki Cele, said he hopes for an arrest in less than 72 hours following the brutal murder of Hillary Gardee (28).

She was the daughter of the former EFF secretary general, Godrich Gardee. Her body was found in some bushes near the Sabie/Lydenburg Road this morning, May 3.

Hillary was abducted on Friday April 29. She had been out with her three-year-old adopted daughter when the incident occurred.

Cele said the police usually take 72 hours to investigate and make an arrest in crime cases, but in this tragic incident, he wanted the police teams to make an arrest sooner than that.

He said the members currently investigating form a strong team.

Cele did not comment on whether there were any leads, and said the police would look for the motive after the criminal or criminals had been caught.
