Sabie Xperience called off due to threat of protest action

The SAPS have withdrawn permission for the event to take place.

The Sabie Xperience, which was to be held on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, has been postponed due to the recent protest action and threat of further protest action in and around the town.

This is according to a post on the Sabie Xperience Facebook page this morning.

The post states: This is to notify you, our valued participant, that in accordance with our race terms and conditions, underscored by our accreditation requirements with CSA, it has become necessary to postpone the 2022 Sabie Xperience to be held from April 30 to May 2.

“The situation in Sabie, the host town of this great event, has reached a level where the participant and supporter’s safety cannot be guaranteed.

“The protest actions which started on Monday April 25 has continued unabated and has intensified, becoming potentially volatile and life threatening.

“This is a situation beyond our control and as a result of this current protest action the South African Police Service has withdrawn the event permission.

“As a result of this withdrawal the event can no longer be held at this time and it is no longer sanctioned by CSA, specifically during this potentially dangerous time.

“The new date will be communicated as soon as it has been determined. Entries will be transferred to the new date.”
