Sinovuyo Salela (30), the man implicated in the murder, handed himself over to the Eastern Cape police, where he lives, on June 19, 2020. From there, Salela was transported to Mbombela where he has remained in custody ever since.

The matter had been set for trial for Monday February 7, however, there had been a last-minute change in Salela’s legal representation and the team requested the matter be heard over a period of two weeks instead of one.
