Police search for men who stole 13 chainsaws in Sabie

The 13 chainsaws were stolen from a house in Sabie on Tuesday, February 1.

Sabie police are searching for three men who committed an armed house robbery on Tuesday February 1 at around 23:00.

Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, said that three armed men entered a house in Sabie area where they found the inhabitants asleep.

“The intruders then forced opened the door. The people living in the house woke up. The trio held their victims at gunpoint and demanded chainsaws as well as car keys,” said Mohlala.

“They then took 13 chainsaws and used a green Toyota Belta, stolen from one of the house’s inhabitants, as their getaway vehicle. They loaded the stolen items before fleeing the scene.”

He said the vehicle was later found abandoned and empty in the nearby bushes.

“No one has been arrested yet and police urge anyone with information that can assist in apprehending the suspects to contact Det Sgt Mopholoshi Molobela on 0716851211,” said Mohlala.
