Second soup kitchen opened in Tubatse

With numbers of homeless people increasing daily in Tubatse, Yehla Ngelosi NPO opened another soup kitchen in Ext 10 on Tuesday.

This is the second centre after a facility had been opened in Ga-Mashamothane on Heritage Day. Helen Ndinisa, the founder of Yehla Ngelosi, said the organisation is taking care of the elderly in and around Tubatse. “

The centers cater for over 100 elderly people. We also provide meals for needy children. “With the soup kitchens, we aim at getting to the nyaope drug addicts in Burgersfort, provide food for them, and get people who will mentor them and advise them on quitting their bad deeds. Most have volunteered to quit drugs and we want to get them professional help and even take them to rehabs.”

The elderly also participated in a funwalk.

The opening of the soup kitchen saw elderly people compete in aerobics and other extramural activities.

“We started with a fun walk from Burgersfort Toyota to Ext 10. These activities are improving our health. Most of us are taking medication and proper training and aerobics will improve our health,” said Gogo Marie Ledwaba.

Ndinisa pleaded with locals to donate food parcels and other necessities to their centers. “We have two centers in which we cater for more than 100 people. We need assistance from local businesses to save our people.”
