Foreign national murdered

Lawrence Teba (37) died from his injuries after he had allegedly been assaulted by community members in the Nkandla section of Mashishing. The alleged attack on Teba, a foreign national, occurred on Friday October 21 at 10:00.

“We suspect the community found stolen items in the victim’s house and took the law into their own hands. The victim was severely beaten and unconscious when we arrived on the scene,” said Capt Kaizer Moela, the spokesperson for the Lydenburg SAPS.
An ambulance was summoned from Lydenburg Hospital and Teba passed away later the same day.
“My management and I are highly disturbed by these unbecoming actions by some community members. Communities are urged to work closely with the police in the sense that if they catch a person suspected to have committed a crime, they must hand that suspect over to the police with the exhibits so that he/she can be brought before the court of law where he/she will face the full might of the law,” said Col Llota Motsileng, Lydenburg SAPS station commander.
No suspects have been charged yet and an investigation is pending.
Anyone with information may phone the investigating officer, Det Sgt Eric Tebele, on 082 458 3030.
