Local police take Operation Basadi to the streets of Mpumalanga

MBOMBELA – In the spirit of Women’s Month, the SAPS’ Operation Basadi took place on Friday morning. It was a female-led, joint operation that consisted of women from various divisions.

The operation comprised of SAPS officers, traffic officials, the SANDF members and members of the Hawks. The operation included stop-and-searches in the CBD, roadblocks and monitoring compliance of Covid-19 regulations.

The members were divided into groups. Some were positioned at the static roadblock on the R40 from where they continued to KaBokweni Mall and Emoyeni Mall. Another group went
to Brown Street and i’langa Mall.

The provincial police spokesperson, Col Donald Mdhluli, said there were successes during the operation. “Eighteen traffic fines were issued and 10 matchboxes of dagga were confiscated. No arrests were made on the day,” he said.
