Vehicle accident claims SANParks staff member’s life

SANParks reported a vehicle accident in the Kruger National Park in which a staff member was fatally wounded.

According to SANParks, the vehicle accident that claimed one of its employees’ lives happened on the morning of August 25, on the road between Shingwedzi and Mopani rest camps in the north.

“The Saselamani SAPS were called to the scene and are busy with investigations into the circumstances that led to the accident.”

The minister of forestry, fisheries and environment, Barbara Creecy, extended her heartfelt condolences to the family and colleagues upon being informed of the tragic accident.

The acting CEO of SANParks, Dr Luthando Dziba, added his sympathies with hers, and for the employee’s SANParks colleagues who had lost one of their own.

The park said the name of the deceased will be revealed as soon as the next of kin have been notified.
