Penryn Prep hosted their first rugby and netball festival since the hard lockdown in 2020, involving Uplands Prep, Curro Nelspruit and St Peters’ grade one to seven athletes.
The juniors participated in mini netball and mini tag rugby, which was a first-ever for the grade one and two boys and girls. The older pupils also enjoyed the opportunity to showcase their skills on the netball and rugby fields once again. The cheering and supporting that the fellow teams and schools gave to each other were a true indication of what sportsmanship is all about. The school was also abuzz with the Ehlanzeni Hockey Festival as well as rugby fixtures against Hoërskool Bergvlam.
The former was a pre-season hockey festival that was co-hosted with Uplands, Hoërskool Nelspruit and Curro. The festival, involving the aforementioned as well as Rob Ferreira, Lydenburg and Bergvlam, afforded schools the opportunity to play on Astro
Turf and showcase their skills. This year the festival served as round one of the regional trials for Ehlanzeni. Elsewhere, Hoërskool Rob Ferreira hosted Curro Nelspruit on their rugby field and netball courts on Friday.
