Alleged NLM fraud probe ongoing

MALALANE – No arrests have been made yet. The Hawks’ Brig Hangwani Mulaudzi earlier said the operation followed investigations in relation to alleged Covid-19 procurement fraud, wherein the appointment of contractors and service providers was inconsistent with the procurement regulations.

Documentation concerning the allegations was seized at the municipal offices in Malalane at the end of July. “The monetary value involved is approximately R27 million.

The DPCI’s serious commercial crime investigation, digital forensic laboratory and the local SAPS’ criminal record centre seized several documents from different offices, that will assist in the ongoing probe,” said Mulaudzi.
