Covid-19: Mpumalanga nearing 500 deaths

South Africa has recorded 663 282 confirmed infections, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Tuesday, September 22. A total of 26 591 of those cases have been reported in Mpumalanga.

According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, there have been 25 281 recoveries and 496 deaths to date.

The number of positive cases in the province can be broken down as follows:

Ehlanzeni District

• Bushbuckridge: 806 cases, 747 recoveries and 16 deaths
• City of Mbombela: 4 675 cases, 4 368 recoveries and 36 deaths
• Nkomazi: 2 036 cases, 1 952 recoveries and 33 deaths
• Thaba Chweu: 398 cases and 368 recoveries and 10 deaths.

Gert Sibande District

• Chief Albert Luthuli: 710 cases, 681 recoveries and eight deaths
• Dipaliseng: 336 cases and 328 recoveries and six death
• Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 931 cases, 902 recoveries and 18 deaths
• Govan Mbeki: 3 571 cases, 3 462 recoveries and 32 deaths
• Lekwa: 1 124 cases, 1 043 recoveries and 59 deaths
• Mkhondo: 531 cases, 505 recoveries and 22 deaths
• Msukaligwa: 1 553 cases, 1 455 recoveries and 43 deaths.

Nkangala District

• Dr JS Moroka: 388 cases, 364 recoveries and nine deaths
• eMakhazeni: 438 cases and 391 recoveries and 17 deaths
• eMalahleni: 5 381 cases, 5 192 recoveries and 97 deaths
• Steve Tshwete: 2 639 cases, 2 489 recoveries and 60 deaths
• Thembisile Hani: 621 cases, 594 recoveries and 20 deaths
• Victor Khanye: 453 cases and 440 recoveries and 10 deaths.
