Covid-19: Confirmed cases climb to over 15 000 in Mpumalanga as of August 2

The Mpumalanga Department of Health confirmed that the number of Covid-19 cases in the province has increased to 15 104.

South Africa has a total of 511 485 confirmed Covid-19 cases, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Sunday August 2.

A total of 15 104 of those cases have been recorded in Mpumalanga. According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, 8 674 recoveries have been recorded to date. There have been 78 deaths recorded in the province.

The number of positive cases in Mpumalanga can be broken down as follows:

Ehlanzeni District

• Bushbuckridge: 350 cases, 273 recoveries and four deaths
• City of Mbombela: 2 131 cases, 1 123 recoveries and eight deaths
• Nkomazi: 761 cases, 493 recoveries and one death
• Thaba Chweu: 211 cases and 110 recoveries

Gert Sibande District

• Chief Albert Luthuli: 338 cases, 178 recoveries and one death
• Dipaliseng: 254 cases and 181 recoveries
• Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 510 cases, 316 recoveries and four deaths
• Govan Mbeki: 2 221 cases, 1 243 recoveries and 11 deaths
• Lekwa: 759 cases, 386 recoveries and 14 deaths
• Mkhondo: 275 cases, 156 recoveries and 10 deaths
• Msukaligwa: 891 cases, 401 recoveries and six deaths

Nkangala District

• Dr JS Moroka: 252 cases and 162 recoveries
• Emakhazeni: 174 cases and 95 recoveries
• Emalahleni: 3 721 cases, 2 213 recoveries and 11 deaths
• Steve Tshwete: 1 441 cases, 826 recoveries and three deaths
• Thembisile Hani: 443 cases, 299 recoveries and four deaths
• Victor Khanye: 372 cases and 255 recoveries
