Covid-19: Mpumalanga cases bordering 11 000

The Mpumalanga Department of Health confirmed that the number of Covid-19 cases in the province has increased to 10 981.

South Africa has a total of 445 433 confirmed Covid-19 cases, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Sunday, July 26. 10 981 of those cases have been recorded in Mpumalanga.

According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, 4 995 recoveries have been recorded to date. There have been 52 deaths recorded in the province.

The number of positive cases in Mpumalanga can be broken down as follows:

Ehlanzeni District

• Bushbuckridge: 249 cases, 168 recoveries and four deaths
• City of Mbombela: 1 444 cases, 652 recoveries and three deaths
• Nkomazi: 508 cases, 241 recoveries and one death
• Thaba Chweu: 156 cases and 71 recoveries

Gert Sibande District

• Chief Albert Luthuli: 199 cases and 74 recoveries
• Dipaliseng: 214 cases and 147 recoveries
• Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 302 cases, 177 recoveries and four deaths
• Govan Mbeki: 1 606 cases, 598 recoveries and eight deaths
• Lekwa: 520 cases, 209 recoveries and five deaths
• Mkhondo: 203 cases, 93 recoveries and six deaths
• Msukaligwa: 576 cases, 201 recoveries and four deaths

Nkangala District

• Dr JS Moroka: 200 cases and 100 recoveries
• Emakhazeni: 93 cases and 24 recoveries
• Emalahleni: 2 990 cases, 1 397 recoveries and 10 deaths
• Steve Tshwete: 1 072 cases, 471 recoveries and three deaths
• Thembisile Hani: 336 cases, 194 recoveries and four deaths
• Victor Khanye: 313 cases and 178 recoveries
