Buya Mjindi Brigade leaders released on bail

His followers were jubilant after it was announced that Mamba would be released on bail last week Friday

MBOMBELA – MBOMBELA – There were scenes of jubilation outside the Mbombela Magistrate’s Court on Friday after Buya Mjindi Brigade leader, Mandla Mamba, was granted bail.

The bail application hearing was presided over by Magistrate Tanya du Preez in Regional Court 3 and lasted almost
two weeks.

Mamba and Njabulo Mkhonto were the central figures behind the demand for the 2016 amalgamation of the now
defunct Umjindi Local Municipality in Barberton and the City of Mbombela Local Municipality to be reversed.

Du Preez read out all the facts pertaining to the bail application hearing and granted bail in the amount of R5 000.

She added that there was no evidence in the pending matters that Mamba would interfere with witnesses while out on bail and that strict bail conditions would be imposed.

Mamba is required to attend all court dates and report to the Barberton Police Station every Monday. Additionally, he should remain resident at the address provided to the investigating officer and inform him if this status changes.

He may not commit offences or be party to any activities which could be construed to be criminal, interfere with State witnesses and should inform Khoza if he wishes to amend changes to the bail conditions.
