Finding a school for your pre-schooler is not an easy task

This is probably one of the hardest tasks you will ever do as a mother. Finding someone who you trust with your child is scary.

I decided to do a Facebook post so people could give me some recommendations for schools for my now almost-two-year-old. I visited all the schools that were recommended by the community who commented on my post.

I can truly say I have seen it all, scary things like prop-feeding tiny babies lying unattended in cots. Walking into a school and their kitchen is filthy.

Might I add that I made all parties aware that I will be coming to look at their school to enrol my daughter. Now I don’t know whether I am just an extremely fussy mother or if other mothers have had this experience too.

The next day I was certain I had found the school for my child. What a wonderful teacher and such a nice playground.

However, as I walked in I was greeted by a Great Dane and as I walked through the school I was shocked to find that kids were lying on a dirty garage floor to nap.

I decided to just walk through all the way just to find some nails on the floor where the playground is.

I basically ran out of the open gate, which anyone could enter at any given time. I ran as fast as I could with horror. I thought to myself what on earth is happening here. It couldn’t possibly be this hard to find a decent school for my little chicken… Could it?

I then eventually decided to still leave her with her nanny, because I was absolutely disgusted, fed up and just plain exhausted. After nails on the floor, unsecured gates, dirty nappies lying on the floor, babies being prop-fed and filthy kitchens, I had no hope for finding what I was looking for.

It could only be a miracle, but sometime after this post on Facebook someone commented about a school. I had long forgotten that I ever put this post up but I decided I had seen everything so it doesn’t matter what this place looks like. It can’t be worse than what I had already seen.

To my surprise there was a guarded security gate before you get to another security gate that the teachers had to open for us. As I walked in I was shocked to see how clean everything was.

There were a million toys, but everything was perfectly in their rightful place. Every bag had a hook with a cute little picture and every toddler had a space.

The garden and play area was extremely clean and I had never seen any school like this. I was more shocked to find that the teachers were not only amazing with kids they were amazing humans.

They made a space for my little one and she has been there for about two weeks now. I can truly see a major difference in her. She has a great learning experience and very good teachers who are always willing to walk the extra mile for her.

The major thing is don’t give up, because there is a school for you out there. There are still good schools and you will immediately know when your child is happy and this is all you can ask for. So don’t settle for less and don’t give up your search, because when you expect it the least, your school will just pop up in some amazing way.
