Knives, dagga found on learners in surprise search and seizure operation at school

Mpumalanga MEC for education, Bonakele Majuba, together with a contingent of SAPS, arrived unannounced at Moses Mnisi Secondary School to conduct a search.

BUSHBUCKRIDGE – Small parcels of dagga were found, including an amount of cellphones that are not allowed at school, and a screwdriver.

Majuba was very much concerned about this and he vowed to intensify the school safety program.

“It is clear that, unless we continue to work side by side with the police and stakeholders, our schools are going to become safe havens for criminal activities. We must not rest until we free our schools from all these destructive elements,” said Majuba.

He then directed the school governing body to institute disciplinary proceedings against the learners who violated the school’s code of conduct.
