Good Samaritans help Silverdays old age home

The kind hearted people of the Lowveld, including Eskort Mbombela, are helping Silverdays old age home to keep their doors open.

WATERVAL BOVEN – The SAVF Silverdays Old Age Home is under pressure.

“We have to use our finances with caution. We need money for general running costs of the home such as maintenance, petrol for our bus as well as electricity,” said manager, Gail Fish.

They also have a shortage of food especially coffee, sugar, cheese, oats and porridge. Luckily the good Samaritans of the Lowveld are trying to ease their burden. On June 4, Eskort Mbombela donated a sizeable amount of products to the home.

“We heard about the need at Silverdays through the Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism. They are genuinely struggling and it hit me quite hard. That is why I decided to help,” said Eskort’s André Mc Donald, adding that they will continue to help.

According to Fish the Griebenouw family from White River also donates on a weekly basis. The home also started its own charity shop to raise extra funds.

“When people supply us with clothes we distribute them to our residents in need first. We sell the other clothes to get extra finance to cover our monthly costs,” Fish said adding that they appreciate every bit of help they receive.

To make a donation phone Silverdays on 013-257-0478.
