Pumas – in it to win it

The North section of the SuperSport Challenge is still dominated by the iCollege Pumas, which scored 54 unanswered points in the first half against the Windhoek Draught Welwitschias in Secunda, winning 93-3 in the end. 

Devon Williams and Morné Joubert dotted down three times each as the home side ran wild. In total the Pumas visited the try line 14 times, which saw flyhalf Chris Smith converting nine and reserve Barend Smit three.

Reynier van Rooyen and Simon Westraad, who made his comeback after a month, each scored two tries.

The Pumas top the SuperSport Challenge log with 34 points, followed by Western Province with 32 points and the Griquas in third with 31.

The Pumas will play their final pool stage encounter against the Hino Valke at the Bill Jardine Stadium on Saturday. They have booked their spot in the semi-finals, winning seven out of seven games.

The last time the Pumas and the Valke met on May 19, the Pumas thrashed the visiting team 54-7.
