BREAKING NEWS : R537 closed due to a CIT heist
The police helicopter is searching the surrounding area at the moment.
SABIE- The R537 between Sabie and Lydenburg is closed due to a CIT heist on an SBV vehicle this morning. According to police spokesman Sgt Gerald Sedibe, the vehicle was ambushed at around 06:10.
“A white Mercedes benz rammed the security vehicle which was driving towards Lydenburg, causing it to overturn. Another white Mercedes, a blue Ford Focus and an Audi and a Jeep Cherokee were used by the gang of suspects to ambush it.” Sedibe said at this point they were not sure how many suspects were involved in the heist.
Police are still searching for the suspects. Two of the vehicles were spotted driving towards Mbombela.
