Editions is the latest additon to KMIA

So many Lowvelders recently attended the official opening of Editions, there was not enough space for all the cars in KMI Airport's public parking area.

MBOMBELA – Editions is the latest addition to the airport’s shopping options and showcases some of the best contemporary art and design the region has to offer.
Co-owners and White River neighbours, Lynne Edmondson and Cath Prettejohn, opened the store in November after walking past the empty shop space a number of times.

Edmondson said the reason for hosting the official opening a few months later, rather than when the doors opened was simple.
It’s a bit like a newborn baby, you see. You need to let things settle down a bit before you know everything is going to be fine,” she told Lowvelder.

Edmondson is an interior designer by trade and has been involved in the revamping of many spaces in the airport, whereas Prettejohn’s incredible artwork can be viewed and bought in the shop itself.

“We saw an opportunity to showcase and celebrate what Lowveld artists have to offer. We have so much talent right here. We only sell locally produced stock, from handmade bags to sculptures,” Edmondson said.

The response from the public, friends and family has been incredible. People like the clean, modern feel of the shop. Our kids are so happy to see their moms doing something cool too.”
She thanked the community for all its support and the sponsors who contributed to the success of the evening.
Some of the other artists whose works of art are on display in Editions gallery attended the event. Kim Kay’s remarkable collection of leopard paintings stretched across the length of one wall of the exhibition space.
