Miss SA conduct local workshop on beauty and confidence

Abrahams spoke to local beauties about the journey to becoming Mrs SA. It is not as glamorous as one would think. Among other challenges the finalists are expected to change a Suzuki SUV tyre as part or their activities.

MBOMBELA – The reigning Mrs South Africa conducted a workshop regarding the need for confidence among models this weekend.

Candice Abrahams, alongside the Mrs SA team, which included the CEO and marketing team, visited the Southern Sun Emnotweni Hotel on Sunday.

They are on a nationwide tour to present and promote this year’s beauty pageant. Abrahams’ stay included a number of interviews with local media houses.

The workshop was organised by Timeless Group headed by Mr Jacques Lombard.
Local beauties such as Melony Naidoo (Mrs Lowveld), Dianna Jansen (Mrs Mpumalanga 2016), Yondela Sihlobo (Ms Lowveld), Jean Mohlaba (second runner-up for Mrs Lowveld) and Manda Gomes, who is the Lowveld beauty-pageant organiser and founder of Ramps-to-Runway, attended.

“The journey helps one to grow to be a confident superwoman who can stand her ground in the midst of challenges that life brings,” said Abrahams. Although times have changed since the establishment of the Mrs SA pageant, the same qualities are still required for the incumbent Mrs South Africa to be able to shine as a role model and ambassador. The winner is also expected to take part in the Mrs World pageant.

The pageant is not only about beauty. The incumbent would be a woman who has her own goals and views of her role in society.

“These ideals are emphasised by the associated charitable causes which largely benefit from Mrs South Africa’s patronage,” she said. In 2015 Mrs SA, with the help of all the finalists, raised R1 million for CANSA through a gala dinner.
