Legendary chimp conservationist to visit Lowveld later this month

The Jane Goodall Institute South Africa is holding a fund-raiser at JGI SA Chimpanzee Eden from 14:00 to 16:00 on February 14.

MBOMBELA – There are obvious ways to spend your Valentine’s Day this year, but another excellent outing is to meet the legendary and well-known primatologist Dr Jane Goodwill in person while making a contribution.

The Jane Goodall Institute South Africa is holding a fund-raiser at JGI SA Chimpanzee Eden from 14:00 to 16:00 on February 14. Chimp Eden is currently home to 34 chimpanzees that have been misplaced from their natural habitats in Central Africa.

Join in this Valentine’s Day to meet Goodall and help celebrate the 55th anniversary of her own ongoing research into the chimpanzees of Gombe. Learn more about the programmes of the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), including Chimp Eden and Roots & Shoots, the hands-on global programme for young people in more than 135 countries.

JGI is an international wildlife and environment conservation organisation founded by Goodall in 1977.

In South Africa, it uses primate conservation and community education programmes to change behaviours for a sustainable environment through the rescue, care and conservation of chimpanzees in Africa and Roots & Shoots education programmes.

Tickets cost R250 per person, which includes tea, coffee and light refreshments, a talk by Goodall, and a book signing.

A selection of JGI merchandise will be on sale. Proceeds will go towards primate conservation and community education programmes of the institute.

Limited spaces are available. Enquiries: info@janegoodall.co.za or 079-777-1514.
