South Africans could become multi-millionaires overnight if they play the Powerball and Powerball Plus on Friday, with a combined jackpot of R78 million up for grabs.
Friday night’s jackpot is estimated to be R26 million for PowerBall and R52 million for PowerBall Plus.
“We wish all our players all the best of luck for the PowerBall and PowerBall draw tonight,” said Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza.
Mabuza said Lotto winnings are paid directly into the winner’s bank account, tax free.
“For our winners who win R50 000 and above, we offer free trauma counselling from our professional psychologists, and financial advice from accredited financial advisors,” she added.

2023 has already seen two lucky Lotto winners.
Over R72 million was won in January this year by players in the Western Cape.
One person is R25 million richer after winning the Lotto Plus 1 jackpot.
He said he is not going to tell anyone he is a lotto millionaire and also won’t be quitting his job in the retail sector.
He plans to use his winnings to pay off debt and buy property.
The other winner this year is a domestic worker who has only shared the news with her daughter.
She said she will use the money to buy a bigger house.
Tickets can be bought at participating shops or on the Lotto website.
