The Lanzerac Hotel & Spa has been named South Africa’s leading wine country hotel for 2019 at the World Travel Awards: Africa & Indian Ocean.
This follows the estate claiming the luxury contemporary hotel of the year title at the Africa & Middle East Luxury Travel Guide Awards, best luxury hotel & winery in the MEA Markets 2019 African Business Excellence Awards and South Africa’s most outstanding country hotel in the 2019 Global Luxury Hotel & Spa Awards.
In a statement on Monday the hotel, which has also won a certificate of excellence from Tripadvisor based on consistently positive reviews on the world’s largest travel site , said it had spent 13 months on restoration following a devastating fire in 2017.
“Since the reopening on the 1st of July 2018, we have dedicated our time and resources to developing our five-star service and memorable guest experiences,” general manager Emile Langenhoven said.
“The past two years have been a journey of growth. Winning these awards affirms that we are on the right track and inspires us to do better and be bolder in future.”
He said the wins had brought the estate’s vision of achieving worldwide recognition as the pinnacle of the winelands to fruition.
“Our aim, ultimately, is to attain global status as South Africa’s leading wine estate and now, with the acknowledgement of the World Travel Awards, we are doing just that,” Langenhoven said.
