Daniel Brothers wins best Afro-Soul

Daniel Brothers let Tzaneen and Limpopo’s flag fly high at the 2022 South African Traditional Music Achievement (SATMA) Awards.

The local duo who hails from Msipana village in the N’wamitwa area, walked away with the Best Afro Soul award, for their album ‘We dance again’.
The 17th annual award ceremony was held at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanaga recently.

This was their third SATMA award win since the inception of the group in 2015.
The group was formed by Fikile Ngobeni and Ntwanano Mhlongo.
“We both were doing our own music as individuals and in 2013 we collaborated and released a single called ‘n’wana vanhu wani jikela’.

“People loved the song to a point where we were encouraged to form a group.
“I believe that our different styles of music when combined complements each other, I used to do hip-hop and Ntwanano did house music.

They decided to call themselves Daniel Brothers, because both their fathers’ names are Daniel.
Ngobeni told the Herald that they are over the moon with the win, because it gives them the assurance that people love their music.

The win was based on public votes through a SMS system.
Ngobeni added that they would like to thank all the fans who voted for them as it is the reason they won the award.

The pair has been performing on different stages and events in the country and they are continually growing their fan base.
They are in the process of releasing a new single soon.

They are also one of the artists who will be performing live at the Xitsonga Music Festival at the Nkowankowa Stadium on, Saturday November 5.
