Pilusa does Limpopo proud

Peter Pilusa continues to fly Tzaneen's flag high in the Arro National Rally Championships.

The local rally driver recently came first in Class D with Kabelo Sekgobela as a navigator in Bronkhorstspruit in Mpumalanga. However, he says that the two-day event was not an easy one as it was very muddy, but he is glad his car was in a good condition to make it through the challenge.

The event was the first one of the season and Pilusa says he is ready to make his mark this year. Out of the 24 drivers in the various categories, his performance placed him in seventh position overall. Last year he attained the second position overall in his group. The second edition of the rally will be held in Nelspruit where he is also hoping to claim a good overall position in the race.

“I will fight for position one,” he said. The man from Shiluvana village told the Herald that his love for motor cars started when he was still in high school. When he is not off racing, he oversees his business and training centre, called Vision Automotive Training and Repairs in the Tzaneen Industrial area.

He teaches aspiring mechanics how to repair cars and anything related to a vehicle. In 2000, after years of lecturing, he decided to start the academy as he always wanted to start his own business. His love for all things automotive has been transferred to his family. His wife, Mavis, sometimes joins him in a rally as a navigator.
