DJ Noma keeps people dancing during lockdown

The musical upbringing of Nomalizo Penelope Gasa, who is affectionately known as DJ Noma or PG Gal has contributed to her musical career.

She is Originally from Kwa Ndengezi township in KwaZulu-Natal but is currently residing in Phalaborwa and is a member of the SANDF.

She is well-known for deejaying in clubs and stages all over the country, including KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and Limpopo.

She comes from a family of instrumentalists and singers.

DJ Noma started deejaying after she wanted to prove to her father that being a DJ is not only for males, but she can succeed as a young woman.

According to her, she was fortunate enough to be groomed and mentored by DJ Cndo, who is one of South Africa’s well-known and respected female DJs.

Her speciality includes afro house, tribal house, amapiano, gqom and techno.

She told the Herald that she has had the opportunity to share stages with well-known South African artists such as DJ Tira, TNS, Kwesta, Makhadzi and King Monada, amongst others.

She has been exclusive on the deck since the dawn of the Coronavirus pandemic, trying to send love and light to her fans.

She has managed to release her single ‘Walk with me’, which talks about the social ill of gender-based violence.
