Xitsonga Gospel Music Awards coming up

Multitudes of people are expected to converge to the Xilumani Hotel in Giyani to witness the first ever Xitsonga Gospel Music Awards on Saturday, October 5.

The awards concept was conceived in 2016 by Howard Mashaba and Ginani Mabunda, but it only came into fruition this year.

According to Mabunda, the main reason for the establishment of the prizes was to promote and support Xitsonga speaking gospel artists who are gifted but does not have the exposure and the necessary support to make it in the industry.

“These awards are special, because it is not for well known artists only, but it is for all Xistonga gospel musicians.

“Our main reason for choosing these genre is because, gospel soothes, revitalises and mends the soul and it also unites people, which is what our nation needs at the present moment,”he explained.
