Over the last few years, the British automaker has invested a culmination of R1.3-Billion in its operations in South Africa.

The EXPERIENCE centre based in Lonehill received an R100-million upgrade with the addition of skidpans, handling tracks and off-road obstacles, a restaurant which is open to the public, a 52-seater cinema and board rooms available for bookings. The focus is placed on experiencing the heritage and the lifestyles of the respective brands.

Upgrading the look and feel of the Jaguar Land Rover dealerships around the country have seen the cost the reach upwards of R970-million. Dealerships now have individual hi-tech Jaguar and Land Rover configurator studios with touchscreens and material displays on which potential customers can devise endless combinations while the kids can spend time on the miniature race tracks and off-road courses for free, or experience an electric ride on the Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles.

With customers being able to choose in between fully-electric (EV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV) or mild-hybrid (MHEV) drivetrains from 2020 onwards, around R57-million has been invested into the training of personnel in different areas of the business with an additional R55-million to be spent this year alone.

In partnership with GridCars, Jaguar Land Rover have invested more than R30-million in the Jaguar Powerway, installing over 80 public charging stations at dealerships, motorway rest stops and shopping centres across the country.

“As the vehicles we offer evolve so does the knowledge needed to sell, maintain and repair them. Never more so than right now. An electrified future brings with it an entirely new skillset for Jaguar Land Rover employees and we’re preparing all our retail staff and technicians with the expertise needed for the e-mobility revolution”. – Richard Gouverneur, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa.
