GALLERY: First Annual Gin Fest takes off in Tzaneen

While some revelers were having fun socialising at the event, others were left displeased by how “poorly” the event was organised.

The weekend of gin and fun was the topic on everybody’s lips.

The first annual Metro FM Gin Fest kicked off on Saturday right next to the Fairview Hotel and Village.

Revelers from as far as Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Mpumalanga made their way to Tzaneen to soak in the fun and gin this past weekend.

The event was graced by the likes of Bujy and Dineo Ranaka, who were both MC’s on Saturday.

The event kicked off with performances by DJ’s that kept the crowd warm, on their feet and gin’ing while waiting for live performances.

Live performances by Zanda Zakuza, Ayavaya dance group and local favourite, King Monada had the crowd in their best cheers.

While some revelers were having fun socialising at the event, others were left displeased by how “poorly” the event was organised.

 

Ayavaya dance crew kept the crowd entertained with their moves.

One such person told the LETABA HERALD that she was upset over the fact that she paid a lot of money for her ticket only to get to the event and be directed to a sitting area that looked like it was set out for people who paid for general entry.

Another said that he was unhappy with the fact that drinks in the VIP section were limited.

“I got to this festival fairly early given the time that it started and I have my VIP entry pass but the alcohol is limited. I had to sit out here in order to get myself a drink. I am not comfortable with the fact that other drinks are not allowed in the VIP areas. That doesn’t make sense to me after having spent so much money to get here,” said the unhappy attendee.

However, the majority of people in attendance shared sentiments that the overall atmosphere was exciting.

Despite the fact that a fight broke out in the VIP area towards the end of the night.

The crowd gathered together to watch King Monada close off the night.

Local sensation and hit-maker, King Monada.

As he was performing one of his hit songs titled ‘Malwedhe’, he gave the crowd instructions on which way to “idibala” first and once the crowd got the hang of it, it was a beautiful sight to see and one to experience.
