Miss GTRN crowned

Tzaneen's beauty queens battled against each other for the title of Miss Greater Tzaneen Royal Nobility (GTRN) at the Nkowankowa Community Hall on Saturday January 6.

Seventeen year old, Munene Dzavana from Nkowankowa Township was crowned Miss GTRN 2018.

Dzavana a DZJ Mtebule Grade 11 learner is over the moon with her new title and she hopes to study Information Technology in University.

“I’m very happy to finally be a pageant queen, because in my previous competitions I was always crowned First Princes, said Dzavana.

Ntombi Baloyi (25) studying for her Law Masters and beauty pageant queen herself founded the competition five years ago.

“The purpose of this prestigious project is to develop and implement a platform within the Tzaneen area aimed at improving the life of a girl child.

This project also aims to encourage everyone within the community, especially the youth to do good and support those who are less fortunate,” explained Baloyi.

A day before the pageant the girls were mentored by local supermodel Mahlatse Makwela and Nandi a well known Make-up Artist.

“The beauty queens have planned a ‘Back to School Campaign’ where they will be donating school uniforms and are also donating few items for new born babies at Letaba Hospital.
