#FacebookDown last night and it ‘Zucked’, but why?

"Frustration last night after an outage knocked out Facebook services across the world..."

#Facebook and #Instagram back up after apps and websites stopped working for thousands of users around the world yesterday late afternoon.

‘The website Down Detector revealed that an outage knocked out services across the world…”

“Some people said there had been a “total blackout” which stopped them loading the site.”

“Others claimed to have had difficulty sharing pictures or writing posts.”

“The problem appears to have started at about 4pm this afternoon and affected the UK as well as mainland Europe and cities on the west and east coasts of America.”

South-Africans were not excluded, and one could easily imagine hearing your nextdoor Facebook-fanatic-neighbour going berserk and into a looney tune frenzy, running around with old photo album and a whiteboard marker pen, hammering on your front door just to get a “like” mark on a photo, or at least just to write a comment for them!

“It is rare for #Facebook to suffer an outage – and even rarer for it to be brought down at the same time as Instagram, which is also owned by #Facebook.

In a statement, Facebook wrote: “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing Facebook and Instagram.”

“We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”

“The outage is not believed to be suspicious, suggesting a technical flaw of some kind is responsible rather than a hack attack,” theSun.co.uk reported.
