Healing through writing

A young mother turned to writing as a remedy of healing her wounds of losing a child

Khanyisa Ngobeni was born and bred in Dan Village. She now resides in Johannesburg with her husband, Aubrey Ngobeni found writing and to be a therapy for her loss.

Her healing journey finally produced a book called “Walking through the pain of Stillbirth”

Ngobeni gave birth to a stillborn baby girl, Ntalo Ellaine Ngobeni in April of 2015.

“After the passing of our child I personally had a lot of questions and as I mentioned in my book that in our society the pain of stillbirth is one of those events unspoken about.

I allowed my pen to bleed, If someone out there is dealing with any kind of pain they must hold on.

Author of ‘Walking through the pain of stillbirth’, Khanyisa Ngobeni.

Writing can be a cure for any kind of pain, because as you write you’re taking all the emotions out.

The book gave me the chance to share my experiences of dealing with the pain.

And it is also an opportunity for me to tell other people out there who are going through something that we can all walk through the pain,” said Ngobeni.

The couple have been married for six years and currently do not have any children.

Ngobeni works in one of the country’s successful information management companies but says writing comes natural to her.

She started her writing journey in high school at Hudson Ntsanwisi Secondary School in Nkowankowa township and since then she has written a series of Xitsonga short stories which she hopes to publish later this year.

She wrote the book by herself with the help of her publisher, Eunice Rakhale-Molefe from CEM Publishers.

“Writing the book was not easy but it was through hard work and dedication especially that I was dedicating the book to our Daughter,”

The book is available on Amazon and Kindle, Xarra books in Midrand or go to “Walking through the pain of stillbirth” Facebook page or contact Khanyisa on 083 214 4823.
