A local DJ will be representing Limpopo at the upcoming Southern Africa Music Festival which will be held in Mozambique on June 2-3.

Dyondzo Shikwambana known to her fans as Lady Shiks was born and bred in Makhuva village outside Giyani in the early 90’s.

Her love for music began when she was six years old.

Shiks said she used to envy DJ’s at local parties when growing up and she told herself that one day she will be just like them.

After matriculating at Makulu High School in 2009, she enrolled for a Bsc Water and Sanitation Degree at the University of Limpopo ( Polokwane Campus) in 2010. Her love for soulful and dance house music started during her stay in Polokwane. She self-taught herself the basics of being a DJ, using a computer with the help from DJ Phonetic from 5fm.

After completing her degree she went to register for SCIM DJ 101 course at the Soul Candi Institution of Music. ‘I was inspired by DJ Kent,’ she said.

She has shared a stage with the likes of DJ Kent, Black Coffee, DaCapo, Nasty C, Nadia Nakai, Oskido, Problem Child, Casper Nyovest, K.O, Black Motion, Gemini Major and many more. She has performed in one of Limpopo’s big events, the annual Marula Festival in Phalaborwa, Nasty C Invasion, Polokwane Beach party, Black coffee Invasion, Divas Night, Ndhuma ya Van’wanati Easter Festival, Giyani Fashion Show, Phangweni Vibes, GCR FM launch, MLFM Women’s Day celebration, Miss Giyani and Mambedi lodge annual pool party.
