DJ Muponisi:Radio is like a theatre of the mind

Muponisi Ngunyule (30) is a man behind the Greater Tzaneen community radio (GTFM) current affairs show he co-hosts with Thapelo Magano

According to Ngunyule radio is a theatre of the mind and its main function is to educate, persuade, inform and entertain.

“Most of the people don’t know that radio is not about being behind the microphone but it’s about educating and informing the nation. Careers in radio are also broad, you can be a producer, technical engineer or even a music compiler,” said Ngunyule.

His love for radio began when he was 8 years old while he was in primary school where he used to listen to Munghana Lonene Fm and he would imitate each and every presenter.

His role model is Sydney Baloyi who presents ‘Phaphama’ breakfast show on Munghana Lonene Fm.

Ngunyule holds a diploma in marketing management from Capricorn Tvet College in Senwabarwana (Bochum) campus. He was born in a family of eight children and he hails from Mapuve village in Giyani.

His goal is to own a community radio station where he will nurture talent.

“My dream is to own a community radio station one day where I will give the opportunity to young people who are underprivileged to showcase their talents and help create employment,” said Ngunyule. He used to present an afternoon drive show on Cosmo FM, Johannesburg before coming back to GTFM in 2016.
