ACORNHOEK ESCAPEES: Four re-arrested, one still at large

The Acornhoek and Bushbuckridge police have re-arrested four suspects that escaped from the Acornhoek holding cells and one of the escapees is still at large.

Tshireledzo Makhadzi (26), who was arrested for house break-in and theft as well as theft out of a motor vehicle is still at large.

The five suspects escaped from the holding cells in the early hours of December 10, 2016.

“This was discovered when the Community Service Centre (CSC) members who were on duty went to visit the holding cells and upon arrival they noticed that five of the eight suspects in the cell have escaped leaving behind three”, stated Acornhoek police communications officer, Captain Nonyane.

“Three of the five escapees were arrested by the Acornhoek police and the other two by the Bushbuckridge police and were detained at the Acornhoek holding cells,” she further stated.

Police have managed to re-arrested Sabatha Maboi (24) for possession of an unlicensed firearm as well as ammunition and business robbery, Prosperity Moeng (31) for rape, Floyd Mashaba (28) for assault with the intention to do grievous bodily harm, theft and kidnapping of a minor and Katekani Lubisi (25) for assault with the intention to do grievous bodily harm, theft and kidnapping.

An appeal is made to members of the community not to confront the fugitive because he might be dangerous, and anyone with information should contact Lieutenant Colonel Hanyani Mushwana on 0824691298 or the SAPS Crime line on 08600 1011.
