Prioritise ’16 Days of Activism’ this festive

We are few days before the end of 2016 yet we look forward to the forthcoming Christmas with a lot of keenness.

Festive Season is one of the most important Christian Calendar periods in our country.

Families come together during this period and tourists and fellow South Africans travel to various destinations to enjoy their Festive Season with their families and friends.

Festive Season is characterised by a wave of crime, including fatalities on the roads.

We should all be cautious and accountable for our actions and decisions we take.

‘Let safety and security start with me’ before any other person so that our country could be free from the road carnage and crime.

As we celebrate the birth of Christ, let us be modest and remember the less fortunate and the disadvantaged members of our society.

We are all endowed with many blessings and we should be thankful.

As members of the service, we must always be alert and guard against criminal elements within our station precincts.

We are however succeeding in detecting these types of crime.

Appreciations must be directed to the FCS who managed to secure 33 life sentences and for, 20 years imprisonments.

41 people were convicted for a period between 10-19 years and 16 people were convicted for a period 1-9 years.

I must hasten to thank members of the public for their unwavering support of the SAPS.

Many of the achievements and successes were through the support of members of the public.

We cannot down play the role played by members of the media; hence our cordial relationship is fundamental in the fight against crime, both from the print and electronic media.

Various Units and Components worked tirelessly during the cause of the year in making sure that we all join hands during our Imbizo and Awareness campaigns.

Christmas is the perfect season to reach out to others when laughter and good tidings are in the air.

The true heart of Christmas is one of wonder and warmth and we owe that moment to ourselves.

Go and create happy memories with those you love.

As South Africans, we often celebrate this day in a joyous mood and my appeal is simple, celebrate responsibly and don’t drink and drive.
Peace, Love, happiness and a crime free festive period are the presents we send to you as the Provincial Police Management.
