Dan Village music treasures

Local hip-hop artists Tbose and Tsen-money are taking the Xitsonga language to new dimensions through their music

The two artists real names Thabo Mokgolobotho (Tbose) and Malvin Mathye (Tsen-money), both are products of Dan village outside Tzaneen.
The pair are part of the Gt-mania movement, which is a local recording label which represents many local upcoming artists.
“I was inspired to get into music by Tbose, from a young age he always encouraged me to write and to believe in myself,” said Tsen-money.
Mokgolobotho says his passion for rap music started from a young age, he was inspired by American hiphop artist Busta Rhymes,he later realised that he can do the same in Tsonga.
“Our aim is to put the Xitsonga language at the same level the other languages are, because Tsonga music hardly gets airplay on radios,” said the rappers.
The pair started working together in 2012, when they bumped into each other in studio and from there, they started working together.
The duo have released songs such as “Bokoharam” and “Shaker” as a unit and their new single “Wani tsakisa” will be released soon.
In 2014 Tsen-money won the Best Xitsonga/Sepedi and Venda rap artist at the Malwela Music Awards held in Polokwane.
In 2015 Tbose won Best Hustler category, also at the same music awards.
The rappers also collaborated with Nigerian artist Kuzy-brown and local artists namely; Malle, Thabiseng and Royal T.
They plead to the community of Tzaneen to support local music and artists, they added that they also need mentor-ship in the industry and local business to invite them to their events for performance
