Can Tzaneen start learning the Bingo Lingo?

If the application for a Bingo Operating Licence is granted to Gold Rush Bingo and Entertainment (Pty) Ltd, it will be BINGO for the residents of Tzaneen.

‘FAT lady and a little wee. Straight on through and time for tea.’

Whatever the numbers may be, Tzaneeners can start learning the Bingo Lingo.

If the application for a Bingo Operating Licence is granted to Gold Rush Bingo and Entertainment (Pty) Ltd, it will be BINGO for the residents of Tzaneen and Oasis Mall, lately known and renamed as Oasis Entertainment Centre.

Kevin Balbach, Group Business Development Manager confirmed to the Letaba Herald on Monday that they await confirmation from the Gambling board to hear if the licence will be granted to them.

If that is the case, then it will be BINGO and all systems go.

‘We are still waiting for the announcement from the gambling board this week. Three other applicants are also in line for the green light from the Gambling Board as a Bingo operator in and surrounding Tzaneen’s CBD,’ Balbach told the Herald.

They are, according to Baldach, Galaxy Bingo, Bingo-Bingo and Bingo Royal. (More to be published upon feedback).

Letaba Herald gathered that if Gold Rush are granted the licence, five of the empty retail premises would be occupied by the planned Bingo Entertainment Centre at Oasis, including the area that was occupied by Spar.

Residents can be at ease.

The bingo area will be strictly controlled and only be open to patrons who are 18 years and older. A zero tolerance policy will be strictly applied to underage gambling and over consumption of liquor.

This exciting new venue will feature a wide variety of electronic bingo games, a separate traditional bingo lounge and an upmarket licensed restaurant, Fourty9’ers café, bar, and diner, aptly named after the “gold-seekers” during the 1849 Gold Rush in America. The electronic bingo terminals provide a range of progressive jackpots.

The Fourty9ers Café Bar and Diner group of restaurants forms an integral part of the Goldrush Gaming Group which was established in 1998 by the group chairman, Raymond Hipkin. Named after the California Gold Rush which began in 1848, when gold was found by James W. Marshall at Sutter’s Mill in Coloma, California, some 300 000 people rushed to California to find a fortune.

The design principles incorporate the use of food, textures and tranquil colour pallets which create a modern uncluttered yet warm and inviting atmosphere in keeping with the overall gaming theme.

The diverse menu is in keeping with customer favorites such as grills, burgers, healthy salads and snack baskets made with the finest quality ingredients that through trial-and-error ensure that the Fourty9ers offering remains fresh and exciting.

Karlien Theron, manager at the Oasis Entertainment Centre is extremely positive and hopeful that Gold Rush will be granted the licence. ‘It is such a beautiful building and there is so much potential, it would be wonderful if they (Gold Rush) are awarded the licence,’ she told the Herald.

If that is the case, the Aqua Mall as it was originally named, and later the Oasis Mall, and now with all hope the Oasis Entertainment Centre in Aqua Park, can once again be a buzz of activities.

Six premises will then still be open for prospective business persons to rent.
