On this day in history: Albert Einstein was born

On March 14, 1879, Albert Einstein was born to a Jewish electrical engineer in Ulm, Germany. He developed the general theory of relativity with a simple equation E = MC squared (E=MC2); one of the two pillars of modern physics. Einstein’s work on energy and particle theory influenced the philosophy of science and drastically altered man’s view of the universe. This led to the theory of quantum physics mechanics and ultimately, the atomic bomb. Einstein understood the responsibility of this discovery and what it meant in the struggle between life and death especially during times of war.

Many of his theories were proven much later including the latest announcement that scientists have found gravitational waves.
