The Gogo’s way to the finals began when they defeated Khethone 3-2, on penalties following a scoreless draw in regulation time. The team made up of pensioners proceeded to narrowly win 5-4 against Lephepane in the semi-finals.
For their efforts, Lenyenye Gogo’s received a trophy, soccer kit and gold medals. The runners-up, Tananani received silver medals whilst all the other participating teams players got bronze medals.
The highlights of the day was when favourites, Vakhegula Vakhegula suffered a major setback when they lost 1-0 against the host team, Siyadlala.
The tournament for elderly women soccer teams was organized by the Tzaneen Cluster police management as part of the crime awareness campaign and the women’s month celebration.
